My bounty is as boundless as the sea,
My love as deep; the more I give to thee,
The more I have, for both are infinite.
-Shakespeare
We find nothing but true and deep inspiration from this intimate Big Sur elopement, photographed by the great Erich McVey. Beginning a marriage, a bond for all of eternity, looks different to every single person and sometimes a couple wants nothing but each other. We find elopements utterly romantic and you will read below that this sweet couple just wanted the distractions of the waves crashing on the cliffs… and that’s it. Beyond the meaningful ceremony and breathtaking photos, we’re lusting over Jane’s gorgeous Reem Acra gown and BHLDN veil. Elopement or formal wedding with 500+ guests… either way you’d be sure to stand out with this bridal look.
Our favorite photos? The way John has a half smile, eyes full of tears, when he looks at sweet Jane… we just love love.
From the bride: “John and I met in New York City in the winter of 2012. After our eight-hour first date felt like a brief moment, we knew something special was in the works. The following year, the West Coast was woven into our story, when John proposed during a Pacific rainforest hike in Tofino, British Columbia. One year later, we decided to call the West Coast home, moving across the country to San Francisco. John has always wanted to live near a redwood forest, and my soul has always felt at peace close to the sea. The beauty and tranquility of Garrapata State Park combines both these elements, and seemed a natural place to have our ceremony
Sometimes, the simplest moments are the most beautiful. With the desire to be truly present with one another during our vows, we decided to elope. We hoped for an intimate and carefree ceremony, our only distractions being the sounds of nature. The day was dreamier than we could have asked for, and we are fortunate to have had many special moments captured by our photographer, Erich Mcvey.”
